Correct Usage Of Water Pumps

Apr 12, 2023

1. Starting

(a) Before connecting the machine and pump, determine whether the rotation direction of the motor is correct and whether the pump rotation is flexible (or check the motor rotation after filling the pump with water, and it is strictly prohibited to idle without water inside the pump)

(b) Close the gate valve on the discharge pipeline.

(c) Fill the pump with water or use a vacuum pump to draw water.

(d) Connect the power supply, and when the pump reaches normal speed, gradually open the gate valve on the discharge pipeline and adjust it to the required working condition. When the gate valve on the discharge pipe is closed, the continuous working time of the pump cannot exceed 3 minutes.

2. Stop

(a) Gradually close the gate valve on the discharge pipeline and cut off the power supply.

(b) If the ambient temperature is below 0 ℃, the water inside the pump should be drained to avoid freezing and cracking.

(c) If the pump is stopped for a long time, it should be disassembled, cleaned, oiled, packaged, and stored.

3. Operation

(a) During driving and operation, it is necessary to pay attention to checking the instrument readings, bearing temperature rise, packing leakage and temperature rise, as well as the vibration and noise of the pump. If any abnormal situations are found, they should be dealt with in a timely manner.

(b) The difference between the bearing temperature and the ambient temperature shall not exceed 40 ℃, and the maximum temperature rise of the bearing shall not exceed 80 ℃

(c) The leakage of the filler should be small and uniform.

(d) The bearing oil level should be maintained at a normal position and should not be too high or too low. If it is too low, lubricating oil should be replenished in a timely manner.

(e) If the gap between the sealing ring and the impeller is worn excessively, a new sealing ring should be replaced (the diameter gap of the new pump is around 0.15~0.25mm)

(f) The pump should be operated as close as possible to the performance points (flow rate, head, etc.) specified on the nameplate, so that the pump can work in the high-efficiency area for a long time and achieve the maximum energy-saving effect.
